چکیده

We present a new approach to imitation learning of grasping skills in the context of a hu-man instructor who demonstrates a grasping action/skill to a mobile service robot equippedwith a 6-degrees-of-freedom arm, a dextrous hand, a multi-view active vision setup andmultimodal sensors. The proposed approach can be divided into 4 steps. The first step usesobject detection mechanisms to interpret the scene. Possible target objects are determined,as well as their position in 3D space. The second step performs data processing by observation of the skill demonstrated by theinstructor’s hand. Therefore the trajectory of the instructor’s hand, its orientation as well asits position, is acquired and filtered in 3D space. The service robot realizes this by a multi-view active vision setup using an adaptive contour tracker based on contour likelihoods. Atthe same time, to make the process more robust in complex situations, the instructor’s gazeis tracked to detect the object that he wants to grasp. In a third step, the acquired data from scene interpretation together with data from handand gaze tracking is then used to generate the trajectory of the robot’s arm and to se-lect a suitable hand configuration for grasping the object. The fourth step executes thegrasping action which is fine-controlled by visual servoing and force control. It is embeddedinto a reinforcement learning approach which evaluates the grasping action for robustnessand stability and represents the robot’s knowledge of which grasps are suitable for an object. Achieving Corresponding Effects on Multiple Robotic Platforms: Imitating in Context Using Different Effect Metrics

One of the fundamental problems in imitation is the correspondence problem, how to map between the actions, states and effects of the model and imitator agents, when the embodiment of the agents is dissimilar. In our approach, the matching is according to different metrics and granularity. This paper presents JABBERWOCKY, a system that uses captured data from a human demonstrator to generate ap...

Context-aware Modeling for Spatio-temporal Data Transmitted from a Wireless Body Sensor Network

Context-aware systems must be interoperable and work across different platforms at any time and in any place. Context data collected from wireless body area networks (WBAN) may be heterogeneous and imperfect, which makes their design and implementation difficult. In this research, we introduce a model which takes the dynamic nature of a context-aware system into consideration. This model is con...

The Relationship between Iranian EFL Learners’ Multiple Intelligences and their Writing Performance across Different Genders

After Gardner’s Multiple Intelligences Theory (MIT), some language teaching practitioners set out to teach students in a way to help their dominant intelligence(s) blossom. In an EFL context, usually teachers’ main focus is to develop communication skills. Nowadays, writing is one of the main ways by which people communicate. Thus, this study aimed at investigating possible relationship between...

The Importance of Leadership and Organizational Capacity in Shaping Health Workers’ Motivational Reactions to Performance-Based Financing: A Multiple Case Study in Burkina Faso

Background Performance-based financing (PBF) is currently tested in many low- and middle-income countries as a health system strengthening strategy. One of the main mechanisms through which PBF is assumed to effect change is by motivating health workers to improve their service delivery performance. This article aims at a better understanding of such motivational effects of PBF. In partic...
